Chris Pinter (b. 1991) is an artist based in Detroit, Michigan. His work draws together broad themes of conflict and constriction with particular emphasis on how these experiences exist within the body. Conceptual and sensory, Pinter’s tactile work roots itself in an anti-colonial kinetic by leveraging the embodied knowledge of gesture. His practice is intersectional and explores these themes across the boundaries of painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, writing, and curation.

Chris Pinter received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2019 and holds a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Recent solo exhibitions include Remnant, at Belle Isle Viewing Room; and Dense Presence, at Gallery 10 in Hamtramck, MI. His work has been shown in Detroit, Chicago, and in online exhibitions. He has curated group and individual artist exhibitions at Cranbrook Academy of Art and Gallery 10. He is a regular contributor to Runner Magazine.
